What Goes in Yellow Top Bins

The yellow-topped bin is a co-mingled bin for all dry recyclable materials.
 This includes:
  • All glass, even light globes & broken glass.
  • All plastic containers (empty), including salad dressing, tomato sauce, condiment bottles & empty plastic bags. (All plastic types 1-7).  Please do not flatten plastic bottles.
  • All cans & tins including aerosol cans & tin foil.
  • All paper products including wax cartons & pizza boxes (empty).

Once separate and baled, these items are made into new products both in Australia and overseas.

Each year, the SMRC working with Cockburn, East Fremantle, Fremantle, Kwinana and Melville Councils send residents an updated Resource Recovery Calendar, which includes information on bin collections, and a detailed A-Z list of what items can be placed in the yellow-topped bin.
