The Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC) is a statutory, local government authority representing seven local councils in the southern part of Perth, Western Australia. It is responsible for developing environmentally sustainable waste management solutions and climate change abatement measures for the member council communities of:

  • City of Canning
  • City of Cockburn
  • Town of East Fremantle
  • City of Fremantle
  • Town of Kwinana
  • City of Melville

The region encompasses 654 square kilometres within Perth's southern metropolitan area and has a combined population of 380,000 people, generating approximately 200,000 tonnes of household waste per year.
